I cannot agree with the OP. The #1 reason why so many nba players did not do well after their careers is because of their stupidities. They didn't understand life 101 nor investment 101. I have always believed that schools should teach students basic personal finances and investments (important concepts such as stocks, bonds, compound interests etc.), and that is more important than some subjects such as geography (something you can quickly learn if you need that after you graduate) etc. etc. Proper financial knowledge is so important to most people that it cannot be over-emphasized. Because of the magic of compound interests (like Einstein said), earning big money early in people's careers are actually great as each dollar earned early could be worth $20 by the time they are ready to retire. NBA players should know that their careers may not be that long and instead of spending big money on luxury cars and things, they should save and invest their money properly when they start to play.... |
